Why not?
Everyone assumes that James is a whiny, ugly, stupid, drag queen. Also, everyone thinks that James should be wiped off from the face of the earth. I don't think so.
Let's start on whiny. He whines because he was spoiled as a child, and when he was thrust into the world, he does nothing but whine. He was always accustomed to getting what he wanted, but with Jesse and co., he hardly can get what he wants.
Ugly? Look at him!!! He qualifies as a bishonen for crying out loud! (A bishonen is a young-looking handsome guy.) He has the nicest eyes, unlike Ash. His hair is such a cool shade of blue. He's extremely vain, and for good reason.
Now on to stupid. In my opinion, some of his plans WOULD have worked if Ash and company/Pikachu/Pokemon-of-the-day didn't interfere. It's due to the "good guys always win" theory.
A drag queen? He does dress up sometimes in the series, but for good reason. Who would expect that girl they met was actually a MALE member of Team Rocket? An okay strategy, if you're willing to sacrifice your reputation for a good cause, and in this case, preventing his sudden death by the Boss.
All and all, I think James deserves a little respect from everyone else. He's quite handsome, suave, and can be so sweet at times. If someone took the time to understand better, he is the coolest character on Pokemon. |
